From Asylum To The Keystone Pipeline, Obama’s Judges Continue Thwarting Trump

To the Lawyer Left, elections represent a policy choice only when Democrats win.

As I write on Friday, the restraining order hasn’t come down yet. But it’s just a matter of time. Some federal district judge, somewhere in the United States, will soon issue an injunction blocking enforcement of the Trump administration’s restrictions on asylum applications.

The restrictions come in the form of a rule promulgated jointly by the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, and a proclamation issued by President Trump. In conjunction, they assert that an alien who wishes to apply for asylum in the United States must act lawfully: An alien who is physically present here and wishes to apply must be in the country legally; an alien outside the country who wishes to apply must present himself at a lawful port of entry — not attempt to smuggle his way in or force his way in as part of a horde (i.e., no invasions by caravan)….

Trump Issues Proclamation Revoking Asylum Eligibility From Migrants Who Cross Southwest Border Illegally

President Donald Trump issued a proclamation on Friday that makes anyone caught crossing the southwest border illegally ineligible for asylum, a major change to U.S. immigration policy that seeks to reverse the rising tide of migration from Central America.

The order, which takes effect midnight Saturday, suspends for 90 days the entry of any alien across the U.S.-Mexico border, with broad exceptions for people who present themselves for inspection at ports of entry and legal permanent residents.

When combined with a new asylum regulation issued Thursday, the practical effect of the proclamation is to limits asylum protections to only those migrants who present themselves at U.S. ports of entry. Administration officials say the ultimate aim of the policy is to channel asylum seekers away from illegal border crossings, which have surged this year amid a wave of Central American migrants….

How Trump Is Toughening Asylum Rules For Immigrants

President Donald Trump’s administration is clamping down on asylum rules for immigrants coming to the United States, the White House announced Thursday.

The Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department jointly issued a new rule requiring that immigrants seeking asylum along the southern border must present themselves lawfully at a port of entry.

Trump will sign a proclamation with specifics. The president last week announced his intention to do so.

The new rule is aimed at ensuring illegal immigrants who are subject to the terms of the proclamation that Trump issues are not eligible for asylum.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker issued a joint statement on the new policy….

CNN Refuses To Play “Racist” Trump Ad Featuring Illegal Alien Cop Killer

CNN has defended a decision to reject President Trump’s anti-immigration ad, saying on Saturday that it’s racist and unfit for broadcast.

The 53-second ad featured in a Halloween Trump tweet juxtaposes footage of cop-killing illegal immigrant Luis Bracamontes with the approaching Central American caravan, implying that similarly violent criminals may be among those seeking asylum in the United States….

No, Christians Are Not Required To Support Illegal Immigration

People who hate the Bible and consider it to be a collection of primitive fairy tales will nonetheless use it to try and win the argument on immigration. Interestingly, these same people generally feel the same way about the Constitution but they will use it, too, when the discussion turns to immigration. Something about immigration seems to turn a Leftist into a very selective sort of Christian constitutionalist.

It feels rather pointless to engage in this debate with people who haven’t read the book and don’t care what it says, but the idea that Scripture is some kind of radical open borders screed is so prevalent that it must be addressed. And it won’t take long to address because, in fact, the Bible has very little to say about immigration one way or another….

‘Migrant Caravan’ Members Sue Trump Over ‘Shockingly Unconstitutional’ Asylum Crackdown

President Trump’s rhetoric about the organized ‘caravans’ of migrants plodding toward the US border has been nothing short of incendiary, as the president has threatened to send as many as 15,000 troops to the border to stop the mobs of “dangerous people” from entering the country. Among other claims, Trump hinted that he might ask soldiers to fire on the migrants if they start pelting border agents with rocks, and that he would be building “massive cities of tents” to house the would-be asylum seekers as they await their hearings in an effort to end the “abuse” of the US asylum seekers.

Well, apparently these remarks haven’t sat well with members of the caravan and their shadowy financial backers, because a group of 12 migrants, six of them children, have filed a lawsuit against Trump, claiming his efforts to beef up security along the border, and threats to deprive them of asylum, represent “shockingly unconstitutional” attacks on their rights, according to Fox News….
