Melania Trump’s $51,500 Coat Reminds Us We Live in an Oligarchy

Look upon it and despair.

I don’t know about you, but most of the time I can hum along on my daily routine without being crushed by the sheer unfairness and brutality of the world. We all live on a spectrum between children born in a war zone and people who get Instagram famous because of their gross displays of wealth, but thinking about it too much makes existence unbearable, and ultimately leads to a shattering sense of a life unfulfilled.

So my advice is to not let your gaze linger on the jacket Melania Trump was wearing at the G-7 summit in Italy this week. It costs $51,500, and if you want to buy one just like it, you have to make a $25,750 deposit, only it’s not available right now and also you can’t afford it because who can? Not the workers at Ivanka Trump’s Chinese clothing factory, who reportedly get paid around $60 a week. Not Americans making the federal minimum wage, who earn around $15,000 a year if they only have one full-time job (they probably have to have more than one in order to survive). Not you, unless you are fabulously wealthy, in which case congrats.

oligarchy – a government in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes
Donald Trump was said to have been a billionaire and likely lost hundreds of millions running for President. They have the means & lived THAT lifestyle. How much were Hillary Clinton’s pantsuits & designer jackets? How much did the Clintons earn AFTER Bill left office AND WHILE Hillary was SoS?!? Lastly, is the Clinton (Foundation) Global Initiative still active? NO!

Comey Acted On Russian Intelligence He Knew Was Fake

Then-FBI Director James Comey knew that a critical piece of information relating to the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email was fake — created by Russian intelligence — but he feared that if it became public it would undermine the probe and the Justice Department itself, according to multiple officials with knowledge of the process.

As a result, Comey acted unilaterally last summer to publicly declare the investigation over — without consulting then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch — while at the same time stating that Clinton had been “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information. His press conference caused a firestorm of controversy and drew criticism from both Democrats and Republicans.
Comey’s actions based on what he knew was Russian disinformation offer a stark example of the way Russian interference impacted the decisions of the highest-level US officials during the 2016 campaign.
The Washington Post reported Wednesday that this Russian intelligence was unreliable. US officials now tell CNN that Comey and FBI officials actually knew early on that this intelligence was indeed false.

Did Brennan Collude with Foreign Spies to Help Hillary?

John Brennan defended his thesis that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win before the House Intelligence Committee. He did nothing to disabuse Congressional Democrats or the mainstream media of the notion that Team Trump colluded with Moscow to change the results of the 2016 election.

Brennan didn’t explain why he thought that the Russians didn’t want Hillary Clinton to win. Perhaps he could explain why they didn’t prefer Hillary, who was Secretary of State when President Obama let Russia violate the INF Missile Treaty and colluded with the Russians to kill missile defense in Europe, telling Then Russian president Dimitri Medvedev to tell Putin he would have more “flexibility” after his reelection.

Brennan didn’t explain why the Russians didn’t prefer Hillary, Secretary of State for an administration that did nothing when Russia annexed Crimea and invaded Ukraine. Why wouldn’t the Russians want the Secretary of State who called murderous Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad a reformer and was there when President Obama drew the first of his “red lines,” then did nothing to prevent the slaughter of 500,000 Syrians while giving Russia free rein in that country?

Did Fake Document Inspire Comey Decision?

The FBI received a purported Russian intelligence report that may have convinced former FBI Director James Comey to prematurely shut down an investigation into whether Hillary Clinton intentionally revealed classified information through her use of a private email server.

According to the FBI’s own assessment, however, the document was bad intelligence and may have been sent to the FBI to delibarately confuse the Bureau.

The report, given to the FBI by a source March 2016, detailed a supposed email in which then-Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch assured a Clinton campaign aide that investigators wouldn’t look too deeply into the matter, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

If Russian Interference Was So Awful, Why Didn’t The Obama Administration Do Anything About It?

This morning former CIA Director Michael Morell had an interesting question for the Obama administration on today’s episode of CBS This Morning. If Russian interference during the 2016 election was such a serious problem, what did they do to stop it? Morell, who was acting CIA director prior to John Brennan’s confirmation during Obama’s second term, noted that his successor said that interference from Russia was a big problem, and that he contacted his Russian counterparts to tell them to cut it out. Russia obviously ignored him.

Seth Rich Family Wants Police To Go Public With Info

The family of deceased Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer Seth Rich is calling on local police to publicize details of the murder investigation, according to the Daily Mail.

‘The family has full confidence in the Metropolitan Police Department’s ability to proceed with this investigation,” said Brad Bauman, a spokesperson for the family, the Daily Mail reports. “But given the large amount of hearsay and conspiracy theories surrounding the case, maybe it’s time for the police department to be more forthcoming with information regarding the investigation and to update the people of Washington, D.C. on the status of the case.”

Rich, 27, was the voter expansion data director at the DNC, according to Roll Call, and had been employed for two years. Rich also worked on a computer application to help voters locate polling stations, and had just accepted a job with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Democrats’ 2018 Election Prospects — Trump Bashing Helps Them

A little unifying hatred goes a long way at the ballot box.

Conventional wisdom says that Democrats are in serious trouble. In the aftermath of Hillary Clinton’s defeat, the narrative goes something like this: Democrats are internally divided, with the far-left wing led by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren battling it out with the establishment Clinton wing of the party; blue-dog Democrats have been wiped out, with pro-choice radicals in full command; intersectionality-focused Democrats are warring with class-warfare Democrats.

The Democrats, this logic continues, must offer more than merely being anti-Trump. They are hysterically anti-Trump, in fact, to the point that they have harmed their own credibility. They cannot hope to win seats simply by shouting “Impeachment!” and then waiting for political manna to fall from heaven. They must make proposals. They must offer a firm, ideologically grounded opposition.

According to this narrative, Republicans have the upper hand in 2020. All they have to do is let President Trump drive the Left batty, pass a few pieces of relatively minor legislation, and watch Democrats implode. Democrats won’t be able to win just by trotting out Maxine Waters and Al Franken. They’ll have to do something to put the pieces back together.

There’s only one problem with this narrative: It isn’t true.
