A Vote For Socialism Is A Vote For State-Run Slavery

Socialism begins as a form of serfdom, tying people to the government just as medieval landlords tied their serfs to the land.

What gives? Socialism fails. We know this. Why on earth would anyone be told to vote for it? Today we have right before our very eyes yet another example: imploding Venezuela, standing as yet more proof that socialism fails every single time it is “tried.”

Venezuela is a nation blessed with natural wealth from its massive oil reserves and resources. Today? Its socialism, an ideology tailor-made for corruption and power-mongering, has produced widespread despair. There is chaos in the streets, a climbing homicide rate, starvation, and a mass exodus of perhaps two million people leaving the country….

Trump Has Precedent, Common Sense On His Side In Birthright Citizenship Fight

In his continuing effort to shake up the status quo in Washington, President Trump has dropped a bombshell. The announcement that he would sign an executive order restricting birthright citizenship sent the anti-borders movement into a state of apoplexy: “He can’t overturn the Constitution! The issue has been settled!” Closer inspection reveals that Trump can indeed correctly interpret a law that has been misinterpreted for more than a century.

To be clear, there is no text in the Constitution, a Supreme Court decision or an act of Congress that specifically conveys birthright citizenship to the children of illegal aliens. The legitimacy of the practice clings to a subjective interpretation of the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which declares that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” This, proponents claim, is the unassailable proof that the clause endows citizenship to children born in the United States to illegal aliens. Opponents have said that the “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” portion was meant to exclude aliens. If only the framers of the amendment were more specific in their language to settle the matter….

Birthright Citizenship And The Constitution

Why Trump cannot eliminate birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants by executive order.

In a recent interview, President Donald Trump claimed that he can issue an executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants born in the United States. The proposed order might alsoprevent US-born children of foreigners here on temporary visas from getting citizenship. Can Trump legally do that? The short answer is no. The Fourteenth Amendment gives birthright citizenship to children of undocumented immigrants and visa holders, if they are born on US soil. Even if that were not the case, the power to grant citizenship is a congressional power, not an executive one. I have some reservations about the morality and policy of birthright citizenship. But the constitutional issue is clear: Trump does not have the power to end birthright citizenship at all, and certainly not by an executive order issued without congressional authorization….

The Stock Market Has Just Done Something That It Hasn’t Done Since 2009

We continue to see extremely wild swings on Wall Street.  On Monday, at one point the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 352 points, and then later it was down 566 points.  At the closing bell the Dow had officially lost 245 points, and all of this extreme volatility is making investors very nervous.  Investors like markets that are predictable, because it is a whole lot easier to make money when things move in a predictable fashion.  When things get crazy, a lot of investors pull their money out and wait until things settle down in the marketplace, and that definitely makes a lot of sense.  Right now, there is a lot of uncertainty about where things are ultimately headed.  Some experts believe that the bull market will resume after this “correction” is over, but others believe that a bear market has now begun.  And as you will see below, the fact that the S&P 500 has now broken a major trendline that has not been broken since 2009 is strengthening the case of the latter group.

Many had anticipated that we may see a bounce on Monday, but instead we witnessed another very large decline.  According to Zero Hedge, all of the major stock indexes are now officially in correction territory….

The Essential Guide To Birthright Citizenship

President Donald Trump is reportedly planning to issue an executive order that would halt the practice of granting citizenship to the children of unauthorized immigrants and other non-citizens born on U.S. soil.

The potential order, first reported Tuesday morning by Axios, would seek to end birthright citizenship after more than 150 years as the legal basis for determining who is a U.S. citizen and who is not.

Despite its long tradition in the U.S., birthright citizenship is not a settled question in immigration policy circles. If Trump follows through on his order, he will re-ignite the debate in the federal courts….
